THERE
IS LIFE AFTER BASKETBALL, STUDY HARD.

GEOFREY MICHAEL KAMAGHE
On the Saturday 28th last week a splendid
match between the St. Augustine alumni versus the modules who are the student
continuing with studies, team alumni were the one who finished victorious by 71
– 70 baskets.
The game started during 1600 hours and both team
modules and alumni were greedy on being the winner of the game with a strong
and tough warm-up, though the alumni were small in number but still they
managed to play a tough game.
The first quarter of the game showed the alumni a
different picture towards team modules since the team modules lead the quarter
by 17-11, at the moment the alumni were patient studying the game and due to
small number of substitutions the alumni play a very slow but making sure of
getting a basket on each ball they gate.
The second and the third quarter as well was tough
and still the team modules maintain their leading positions but it was not all
about speed and strength but also experience of the game was needed for them to
maintain their position, poor substitution by the modules made them into
unnecessary turnovers which were well used by the alumni, and till the third quarter
the scores were 57- 47 team module leading the match.
The amazing play by Chelu Mapolu, the alumni big man
and defender made it difficult for the team modules to play a good defense
since Chelu trapped the modules tem big man into foul trouble and making the game
tough for modules to defend attacks from their brothers Alumni.
On the last quarter the game gain momentum after a
tie in the last two minutes of 69-69 and there is when the alumni left behind
the modules, though the modules player Frank Sele and Romanus Kissia missed out
the free throw which if they could make them right they could change the reslts
but the players fail to control the game pressure as it was not there lucky
day.
On the close down, the alumni acting coach Benson
Nyasebwa said, “you should take the game serious and win it when you had a chance
since your first line was not strong enough, you had strong players and still
you hesitate, next time it’s not a must for every player to play since what we
want is victory and nothing else.”
The SAUT team modules captain Mrumbi Issa thanked
the alumni for the time since they had various jobs to do but they took the
call immediate as the team needed and added that,” I ask for this not to be the
end of the plays, we should take it as a behavior for you to remember the life
as students and advising us on the real image of life out the bars of
university”
